Project Proposal – Facebook Route Rank Application

Phase 1.
 
Aim: The aim of the first phase is to prepare a facebook application which is functional in it's own rights and works up to some basic level of functionality.

Basic Working: It is important to understand how the first phase will work. The widget will be what remains the highlight of the part of work. And when the user using the widget does some to and fro fields into the widget he would be taken to the routerank main website. Also we do all the facebook specific work BEFORE redirecting him to the routerank website. This is a technical complication which would be sought up in the next phase.

Features.

*) Facebook Widget: The widget will be the baic feature that the application would provide. The fields that would be prominent in the widget would be
1)To and From fields
2)Time and Date
 In general it would have a look and feel similar to what routerank has as of now. We would keep it as routerank specific as possible.

Time to be used: 15 days.

*) Facebook specific features: We implement the facebook specific features listed as

1)As soon as the user fills in the details in the facebook widget and requests redirection, we first ask him to confirm that he wants to post the same to his wall.
Time: 5 days
Finish Date: June 5

2)If the user is having a good experience he might ask well want to recommend this to other friends. A promote amongst friends would be put up.
Time: 5 days
Finish Date: June 10

*) Station suggestion: Implement the autocomplete suggestions functionality in the widget using JS and making appropriate calls to the RouteRank website.
Time: 10 days
Finish Date: June 20

*) FindFriends: This feature would help a friend find the route to one of his friends. So suppose Alice wants to meet bob and prepare a trip using routerank. All she has to do is to use the widget and fill in name of friend to connect to instead of actual places. My application would then use the facebook api and get the location, parse it accordingly to use it.
Time: 10-12 days
Finish Date: July 1 

Phase 2.

Plan: The plan of the phase 2 is to inmplement feedback into the Facebook Application. This is what we mean by feedback. Suppose a person chooses to find a route and is redirected to a new page. It will be the present case that we will not be able to get feedback since facebook provides no such facility and the task is non trivial. So we try to implement the same.

Feature:

*) Feedback: Suppose a user redirects to a new website and chooses a link. Send data/route back to the Facebook application in some processed format.

1) Enhanced Wall posts: The wall posts will be enhanced with actual route choosen and the green value of that route.
2) Best user: We can rank users on the basis of how many routes they have successfully finalised using the application.

Time: 20 Days( Havent decided how to split this time period )
